BAA has today (Friday) announced that David Johnston has been appointed managing director of Stansted Airport, succeeding Stewart Wingate, who has chosen to leave the company to join Connaught plc.
David is currently group procurement director, having joined BAA in 2007 as managing director of Edinburgh Airport.
Prior to joining BAA, he was managing director of Thorn Lighting in Durham and he has international manufacturing experience.
David said: "I am delighted to be joining Stansted at such an interesting time in its development. I look forward to working with the team here, to steer the airport through these challenging times and to work with our airlines to grow the business and support the regional economy."
Stewart Wingate is joining Connaught plc, as regional managing director for London and the South East.
He said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Stansted, and wish David and all of the team well in the future.
