A series of road-shows are set to take place over the coming weeks to give residents and businesses further information about the Tour de France.

Taking place in the four Braintree district parishes set to host ‘Le Tour’, the events, organised by the parish councils will see officers from Braintree District Council and Essex County Council on hand to answer queries and explain more on plans for July 7.

Cllr Peter Tattersley, deputy cabinet member, said: “Having the chance to welcome the Tour De France and some of the world’s greatest riders into our district is a once in a life time opportunity.

“However, this is happening on a Monday and with roads closing, schools shutting and public services affected there is going to be some disruption on the day, and so we are working closely with our colleagues in the parish councils to ensure residents and businesses aware.

“These road shows are an excellent idea and I think a great opportunity for local residents and business owners to come along and speak to officers involved in the organisation of the Essex stage.”

The road shows will take place:

Wednesday, April 2 – 7-9pm at Rayne Primary School

Thursday, April 3 – 8-9pm at Wethersfield Village Hall

Wednesday, April 16 – 3-4pm for businesses; and 4pm -5pm for residents at Finchingfield Village Hall

Thursday, May 15 – 7-8pm at Shalford Village Hall
