Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre (TIC) hosted two familiarisation days to give Visit Essex and Visit Cambridge staff an idea of what the town has to offer.

The visitors, who work in tourist informations centres in Cambridge and elsewhere in Essex, were treated to a guided blue badge tour, as well as a trip to Bridge End Garden and the Fry Art Gallery.

They also visited Audley End House and Gardens, with a ride on the miniature railway train, and the two days were held on April 18 and April 25.

Mark Starte, from the TIC, said: “Both days went really well. I wanted to put Saffron Walden in people’s minds as a place to come to visit and the aim of these days was to inform other tourist information staff just what Saffron Walden has to offer.

“If people approach staff in Cambridge, for example, looking for a different day out, they probably send them to Ely, or Newmarket stud. We want them to be sent here.”
