FIRE ripped through five HGVs at the rear of a business premises in Great Chesterford yesterday evening (Mon Dec 2).
Trains were stopped between Great Chesterford and Audley End while fire crews tackled the blaze at Pretlove’s Removal and Storage Service in Station Approach.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 7.32pm and tackled the flames with foam, hose reels and jets. The blaze was extinguished by 9.32pm. A thermal image camera was used to check for hotspots and a high pressure fan cleared smoke from the area.
The cause of the fire is not known and a police and fire service investigation is underway.
