Anyone keen to cultivate their knowledge of plants should head to see this green-fingered gardener, who will share the secrets of the soil at a meeting of the Clavering Horticultural Society.

Christine Walkden, from Sawbridgeworth, has devoted her life to plants since discovering a passion for them as a child, and is now a well-known and respected horticulturalist.

Christine, who is also a patron for hospice charity St Clare, will share some of the highlights of her gardening career, which has seen her travel all over the UK and the visitied 43 different countries to explore plants in the wild.

‘An Evening with Christine Walkden: The Life of a Gardener’ will take place at Clavering Village Hall on Friday, March 20. Doors open at 7.30pm, and there will also be a licensed bar and raffle.
