Two people were taken to hospital following a three car collision in Newport this morning.

Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle were sent to the incident on London Road shortly after 8am.

A woman, believed to be in her 30s, was taken to Addenbrookes with possible back and head injuries.

A second patient was taken to hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries after being extricated from their car by the fire service.

Firefighters from Saffron Walden and Stansted used specialist cutting equipment to rescue the casualty by removing the roof of the car by 9.40am.
