CHILDREN’S services at Essex Couty Council have undergone a two-week Ofsted inspection.

The outcome of the inspection is due to be published in August, but initial confidential feedback has been presented to Essex County Councillor Sarah Candy, cabinet member for children’s services.

Cllr Candy said: “Essex County Council welcomed the Ofsted inspection team into County Hall and the last few weeks have passed successfully. All the staff in the Schools, Children and Families directorate have worked extremely hard in preparation for the inspection and throughout its course.”

“We are at the corner of our improvement journey and we know there is a long way to go. We have had some difficult times in the past but we have made significant steps over the last few months. We have a robust improvement plan in place and strong management, but as I am sure you will appreciate the task before us was an enormous one and the road to improvement is a long one and cannot be achieved overnight.”

“The final report will be published on August 6 but we have taken our initial feedback on board and we know it will be of invaluable help in continuing to deliver better services for children and young people in Essex.”
