Members completed another successful year with a membership of 301. Founded in Paris, the concept of U3A quickly spread internationally. Why "Third Age"? This is generally regarded as the age of retirement and daytime leisure. Today it includes many over the age of 50 who have decided to retire early. SWU3A offer many groups for members to select from, these can very from theatre and travel to line dancing, literature to keep fit, poetry to rambling. There is an annual subscription, currently £12, and all groups must be members of the main body.

SWU3A will be holding its AGM on Monday September 11 in Saffron Walden Town Hall. The meeting starts at 2.30pm but doors will open at 1.30pm.
