The 24th AGM was held on Monday September 11 at Saffron Walden Town Hall.

Guests included Saffron Walden mayor Cllr Hilary Shibata, and town clerk Malcolm White. The mayor briefly referred to the popularity of the town as the ideal place in which to live, its civic pride, and support of many charities. Mr White, who has studied the town, produced a slide show of "Saffron Walden then and now". The chairman appealed for more volunteers, to serve on the committee and to act as co-ordinators for the classes, groups and activities. On Monday September 18 new members were invited to a special meeting at the Court Room and met co-ordinators and tutors for the various classes, groups and activities. Twenty-three new members have signed up for the year and it is anticipated that last year's total of 301 members will be overtaken. The next open meeting will be held at Saffron Walden Town Hall on Monday October 16 at 2.30pm. The guest speaker will be Carolyn Wingfield, curator of Saffron Walden Museum.
