A TASTER session giving people the opportunity to try Nordic walking has been hailed a great success.

The free 45-minute session in Saffron Walden attracted 11 walkers, who enjoyed a half-hour walk plus warm-up and cool-down exercises.

Community outreach officer Paul Goddard, who ran the session and will be organising the four-week course beginning today (September 9), said: “The session was a great success with all of the walkers expressing interest in the four-week Nordic walking course.

“All participants enjoyed the experience and expressed surprise and satisfaction at the aerobic benefits from Nordic walking. The council intends to offer more taster sessions across the district in the near future.”

Places are still available on the four-week course, which will begin at Swan Meadow Car Park in Saffron Walden at 5.30pm.

Anyone wishing to enrol on the course should call Uttlesford District Council on 01799 510510.

Details of future taster sessions will be placed on the council website at uttlesford.gov.uk/nordic when they are available.
