OVER 400 families from the four Uttlesford secondary schools attended the inaugural Careers Fair at Parklands in Quendon last week.

Organised in response to an audit in schools that indicated that occupational information was much needed and sought after by both parents and students, more than 30 local employers as well as colleges and universities from across the region exhibited and held presentations on their sectors.

A spokesman for the event said: “Given the current economic climate and fears of a rise in youth unemployment, although so called NEET figures in Uttlesford remain significantly lower than both county and national levels, the event was well timed and well received.”

Uttlesford’s four secondary schools to take part were Newport Free Grammar, Saffron Walden County High, Mountfitchet Maths and Computing College in Stansted and Helena Romanes in Great Dunmow.
