Greeters are wanted to support a free vintage bus service being run this December between Audley End and Saffron Walden.

The Saffron Walden Town Team is running two buses between the locations on the first three Saturdays of December, from 10am-5.30pm.

All of the Lodge Coaches buses have names, with Joe – so-called after Grandfather Joseph who founded the firm – now being turned into a cartoon to promote the service. Robert Lodge at the firm paid for the cartoon’s creation.

Joe will be on display at the town market on Saturday, November 25, to promote the service.

Volunteer greeters are sought for the service, to welcome people at either end and answer questions about the town or the bus service. Maps and directional boards will be on hand to help.

Those interested in signing up should contact Fiona Bates from the town team at

Although the service is free, voluntary contributions towards the cost are welcome.
