A LOCAL volunteer centre manager has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
Doreen Marsden, manager of Volunteer Centre Uttlesford - which has centres based in Saffron Walden and Great Dunmow - is one of three nominated representatives of the 14 Essex volunteer centres put forward for the High Sheriff of Essex Award.
The award notices good practice in volunteering and encourages volunteers to nominate their voluntary or community group for an award.
Ms Marsden said: "This dedicated award recognises voluntary sector organisations in our community where volunteers feel well supported and encouraged and is an ideal opportunity to acknowledge the vital work of the voluntary sector across Essex."
The award is given to the organisation which best demonstrates the use of good practice in providing encouragement, support, training and supervision to volunteers.
The winning organisation will receive 1000 which they will be presented with at a ceremony in March by the High Sheriff of Essex, Sarah Courage.
