Shoppers at Saffron Walden’s Waitrose store donated a whopping 4.7 tonnes of foods to the Haverhill Foodbank last year.
Ann Merrigan, from Haverhill Foodbank, visited the Hill Street store last week. She said the impressive total had been donated in 2013.
Waitrose branch manager Malcolm Domb said: “We want to say a huge thank you to our very generous customers for donating both on collection days and via the collection point in branch.”
An information and recruitment meeting ahead of the launch of an Uttlesford Foodbank is being held on Monday (March 3) at the Salvation Army Church, Abbey Lane at 7.30pm. There will be a question and answer session ending with the opportunity to register interest as a volunteer.
