BUILDERS who were treated to a bird's eye view of Saffron Walden are giving people the chance to buy a picture and raise money for charity.

Mansell Construction Services Ltd has donated photographs of Saffron Walden - taken from the top of their recently dismantled crane - to the Tourist Information Centre (TIC).

TIC manager Rachel Thomas was surprised at the level of interest in the unique views of the town. "It quickly became clear that many of the TIC's customers would like to purchase copies of the photographs - particularly the stunning views of St Mary's Church," she said.

"I had already confirmed with Mansell that we would not profit in any way from the images, but decided to approach them again to ask if they would be prepared to allow us to sell them in aid of the Saffron Walden Teenage Cancer Trust and Saffron Walden Museum's Heritage Quest Centre appeal."

Mansell agreed to let the TIC sell the images and said to help the company celebrate its 100th anniversary, they would add 33 per cent to whatever total was raised.

"They really have lived up to their official considerate contractor status," said Mrs Thomas. "This is a great opportunity for people to purchase these special pictures and boost funds for important causes at the same time."

The photographs will be printed on request, and all profits from the £1.50 price will be donated to whichever of the two charities the customer prefers. To contact the TIC on Saffron Walden Market Square call 01799 510444.
