SCIENCE Week finished with a bang for the pupils at Stanley Drapkin Primary School in Steeple Bumpstead on Friday.

The five days of activities were held in conjunction with Cambridge University's Science Week and culminated with a performance from the Mad Science Group.

Headteacher Mary Nicholls said: "The group did some really thrilling science, which had a wow factor and went with a real bang.

"The children particularly enjoyed the experiment when an egg was forced into a container, which looked impossible for it to go in.

"During the week we also held a science fair with lots of practical activities and a professor from the university came to talk about microbes."

Ms Nicholls said the week had inspired lots of the pupils to attend the university's own events at the weekend.

"The activities provided an excellent learning experience for the children and a lot of them visited Cambridge to take part in the activities there," she said.

"What was even more thrilling was the number of children who have been so inspired by our Science Week that they now say they want to become scientists.
