A car crashed into a set of traffic lights in Saffron Walden High Street this morning (Aug 23), narrowly avoiding passersby.
The silver Peugeot 308 smashed into the traffic signals just outside Duprey’s hairdressers, causing considerable damage at around 10.20am.
Essex Police, Saffron Walden firefighters, and a rapid response vehicle and ambulance crew from the East of England Ambulance Service attended the scene.
Police officers directed traffic temporarily until the vehicle was moved by firefighters to a space in George Street.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said a female was assessed by paramedics at the scene and taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
No passersby required any treatment.
