Dr Lockstone was the guest speaker at this month's meeting of Gibson Women's Institute; he is the medical advisor for the hit TV programmes Heartbeat and The Royal. Dr Lockstone spoke of the years following his medical training as a GP and an anaesthetist, and later when the TV company filming Heartbeat approached him, initially on an informal basis, to provide them with information on medical procedures, which would have been carried out in the early 1960s in a rural community. The next meeting will be on May 3 at the United Reformed Church on Abbey Lane in Saffron Walden at 7.45pm. The speaker will be Colin Townsend on The History of Morris Dancing.
