Keen runners from a Saffron Walden primary school just missed out on top spot at an Essex cross country event.
A Year 5 girls team from St Thomas More ran against more than 100 competitors from across the county at the Active Essex County Cross Country finals last Friday (March 28).
The team of 6 had already done well to make it through the preliminary rounds.
On a gruelling grass track at Hylands Park in Chelmsford the girls were cheered over the line by a few dedicated supporters.
They were presented with their 2nd place medals by Essex born Adam Hickey, a British Olympic cross country athlete.
