More than 50 children took to the stage in Saffron Walden last month for a spectacular musical production.

The youngsters were part of Pure Rhythm Performing Arts, based in the town, and showcased their talents in an all-singing, all-dancing adaptation of Honk!

The performance was this year’s annual show for the group, and was based on the original book and lyrics by award-winning duo, Andrew Stiles and George Stiles.

The story follows Ugly – the runt of a duckling family who embarks on a journey after deciding to wave goodbye to his bully brothers.

The part was taken on by 12-year-old Lily Briner, with Ugly’s mother played by Maddie Aitken.

Sue Raven, who choreographed the show, said: “One audience member told me ‘What an incredible production, such amazing costumes and all the students looked so happy and performed to such a high standard.”
