YOUNGSTERS in Stansted spent half term enjoying brand new play equipment after it was officially unveiled by Saffron Walden MP Sir Alan Haselhurst.
He was joined by the team who helped organise the funding for the new gear at play areas on Mountfitchet Green and at the Recreation Ground, including members of Stansted Mountfitchet Parish Council.
The items were selected following consultation with youngsters at the village schools and the parish council.
Sir Alan officicially declared the equipment open for use by cutting a ribbon at the Recreation Ground at the end of last month.
Parish council chairman, Geoffrey Sell, praised the extensive work of Cllr Jo Freeman and former councillor Tudor Owen in bringing the project to fruition – with the 146,000 for the new equipment funded by a planning agreement with developers of the Foresthall Park housing estate.
