ROALD Dahl's riotous take on Little Red Riding Hood was brought to the stage at Friends' Junior School in Saffron Walden last Thursday.

Pupils in Years Three and Four performed the musical in the school's drama workshop, with Ellie O'Callaghan and Jack Hayward in the lead roles.

The colourful production went down well with the audience, many of whom had helped create the elaborate costumes.

Year Four form teacher Jane Manley said: "The children did very well and the excellent standard of singing was particularly commented on by the parents and friends.

"The parents excelled themselves with the brilliantly inventive costumes they created for the children.

"In Roald Dahl's version of the traditional children's story, Little Red Riding Hood kills the big bad wolf and then appears in a very beautiful fur coat."

Fellow Year Four teacher Debbie Ballingall organised the show along with Ms Manley, and Martin Wilson was the musical director.
