ACCORDING to a survey by the Essex Naturalists' Trust of wildlife in Essex published 1985 (ISBN 0 86023 222 0), taking into account those parts of Essex nibbled by London: after Bermuda, Malta, Singapore and Hong Kong the county is the most densely populated area on earth at 637 per sq kilometre.
This is 65 per cent greater than Holland a fact which Whitehall must be aware of.
This begs the question as to the logic of demanding even more development in a very crowded area.
Before anybody agrees to new development on the shrinking Greenfield areas we need a firm justification for this demand and not political waffle indicating a lack of ability to arrest population drift to the South East.
