Well done to Dick Clark of Select Cars for daring to voice what other people feel about the council's decision to take away the licence from the Queen Elizabeth.

With new housing being erected by the minute in and around Saffron Walden, our councillors still have their Quaker attitude trying their hardest to stop anyone from enjoying themselves and listening to music at the weekends.

On the night of the police raid at the Queen Elizabeth there were 120 customers in the pub, the majority of which were law-abiding citizens, just enjoying a night out in a pub with music, which has now, through no fault of their own, been taken away.

If the police feel we have a drug problem in this town, then surely they should work with the licensees instead of against them, bringing the problem under control instead of distributing it elsewhere around the town, which is all they have done.

Will they just continue closing pubs one by one?

Maybe it's about time now to bring in some younger councillors who can see that we do need some social avenues for the ever-growing population of this town.
