JUST another weekend in Walden...

On Saturday (February 16) I went to see Joanna Eden and Leigh McDonald at the Saffron Hotel. What a duo! They were engaging, sassy, bawdy, sharp, funny, sexy, touching, fantastically professional, full of pizzazz and all in aid of Homestart Uttlesford. I can’t wait for their next Walden gig for Comic Relief on March 9.

On Sunday (February 17) I was at No1 Myddylton Place (formerly the youth hostel) to be shown round by the new owners, who have done an amazing job in a short period to restore and reveal details of one of the most spectacular mediaeval buildings in the town, including timber put in by the same carpenters who built Kings College Chapel roof! Thanks to Saffron Walden Initiative for organising this.

This week: Family holiday activities at the museum, to go with the new Witch Hunt exhibition. Then Jazz at the Saffron Hotel on Thursday with Marc Cecil launching his new DC on Dizzy Gillespie’s music.

On Saturday Quartet will be screening at the award-winning Saffron Screen.

Next month; Words in Walden events, especially Nick Crane talking about his upcoming BBC programme about the town.

Suffering boredom? Not likely!
