AS MOST people will know there are local elections taking place today, May 3.

It's a chance for your voice to be heard on the local issues you care about. It could be how much council tax we pay, investing in our local community, recycling and even Stansted Airport expansion.

These are really important issues to many of us and we have an opportunity to make our voice heard.

Many generations of our people have fought and died for the British way of life to be maintained and that includes our democracy.

We owe it to them to make an effort this Thursday and go out and vote and exercise our democratic right.
