I think that the Labour Party Parliamentary Candidate's remarks are an insult to us all ('Candidate welcomes eco-town', Reporter, July 24).

No, Mr Sartain the majority of us don't want eco-towns and the majority of us don't want the airport to expand. We are not timid about it, in fact if you ever cared to take an interest in the seat you are standing for you would find that we are quite vocal in our opposition.

Clearly you haven't even bothered to find out what the people in this constituency are concerned about and you have caused your Labour supporters locally much embarrassment. This is yet more proof that the Government is out of touch.

I know that there are individuals in the local Labour party, who are very in touch with our area and I feel they and their Labour voters are being let down by the likes of Stephen Sartain.

I suggest he packs his bags and goes back to London, and that Labour locally finds someone else to stand instead.
