A change of sport for a Saffron Walden para-athlete is not proving to be a problem just yet.

Charlie Stanton-Stock took the decision to switch from triathlon and focus solely on the cycling discipline.

He has already been accepted onto the GB Para-Cycling Talent Academy but has also just returned from the British Cycling National Track Championships, held at the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales in Newport, with some big performances under his belt.

He competed in the 3000m individual pursuit, the kilo and the scratch race, a group battle over 10km, all in the para category MC 1-3.

A six-second PB in the IP of three minutes 58.8 seconds was just 2.3 seconds behind foundation rider Jacob Smith.

He made it two PBs in two by clocking 1:17.4 in the kilo, blasting out on the first lap before holding on for the rest of the kilometre time trial.

The scratch race was his first attempt at the event and despite putting in regular efforts to break clear, he finished just shy of third place in a final sprint to the line.

Stanton-Stock is currently attending Loughborough University where he is studying materials engineering.

On top of that, he will be competing in the British University Championship events and the para-cycling national road and time trial series this summer.
