A storming second half from Saffron Walden Town gave them yet another victory in the Essex Senior League.

The Bloods won 3-0 at home to Halstead Town to make it three wins from three, all coming with clean sheets, and shifting them up to seventh in the standings.

An effort from Jake Noble flew just over the top while home keeper James Young kept one good chance for Halstead out in a lacklustre first period.

It was all change after the break though.

Young denied Alfie Cleal with a brilliant stop before opposite number Jack Cherry denied Noble.

The fast start to half continued with Walden's Jason Hallett having an effort cleared off the line by the Humbugs before Charlie Cole and the visitors' Matt Travell both headed wide.

A goal was inevitable though and it went to hosts, George Powell scoring from a corner.

Halstead almost equalised immediately, Young again in good form, but after Cole and Hallett had tested Cherry, the Bloods made it two with five minutes remaining.

Evan Goodfellow had created it with a tempting cross, Cole knocking it home, and he then upgraded his assist by adding the third on the break, a calm finish delighting the crowd of 302 inside Catons Lane.

Walden now have three away games in a row, starting with Southend Manor on Tuesday, before a trip to Buckhurst Hill.

They round the sequence off by going to Ilford on Monday.
