Stuart Wardley is confident Saffron Walden Town have enough to get away from danger and preserve their Thurlow Nunn Premier Division status for a second successive season.
Saturday’s 3-0 home loss to mid-table Fakenham Town extended the Bloods’ poor run to just one league triumph in nine games.
Their spiralling form has left them just a point above the drop zone but Wardley is not panicking just yet.
Manager Wardley told the Reporter: “It [winless run] is always in the back of your mind because you’re thinking where is the next win coming from?
“We’ve got a really good squad and sometimes it will take a decent win to fire us forward.
“I don’t see why we can’t put a string of results together and climb the table.”
Town required a superb second half of last season to lift them into mid-table with a run of seven wins in 10 games.
Ironically Walden turned their campaign around last year after a league clash with Fakenham Town [4-1 win] before going on to beat Ipswich Wanderers 3-0 at home in their next game.
Wanderers are the opponents for Wardley’s men on Saturday, although away, and he’s hoping for deja vu.
He continued: “If you can put a three or four-game winning streak together you’ll fly away from danger.
“Ipswich was a big game for us last season and I’d like to make it a pivotal game again this year so we can hopefully put another good run together.”
