Nigel Appleby won the men’s singles title at Saffron Walden’s Castle Hill Tennis Club for a third successive year recently.

After falling 4-1 down against Steve Tapping in glorious sunshine on Castle Hill’s centre grass court, Appleby rallied to win the first set on a tie break (7-3).

And he went on to win the second set 6-3 to successfully defend his crown and complete a hat-trick of titles.
