BARNSTON'S Essex Premier Cup dreams were ended in Canvey Island on Saturday despite a spirited performance from the visiting side.

The visitors matched their opponents in the opening 30 minutes and created several chances but were unable to put them away.

However, a soft goal was conceded when a cross was not dealt with and left the Concord striker with a simple tap in, before a goal right on half time saw the home side two up at the break.

During the second half

Barnston could not find their earlier form and gradually Concord took control of the game and scored a further three goals.

The reserve game was called off due to Ryan FC being unable to raise a team - and Barnston can expect to be awarded the Essex Olympian League points.

Barnston host Writtle on Saturday, kick off 2pm.

n Saffron Walden Town's home game against Great Yarmouth Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch on Saturday.

The Bloods will hope to return to action on this Saturday when they travel to Thetford Town for a Ridgeons League Division One game. Thetford are one place below Walden in the table, laying in 15th spot with 11 points from as many games.
