Stuart Wardley says his side need to start turning decent Thurlow Nunn Premier Division performances into points after a narrow 1-0 loss at Felixstowe and Walton United on Saturday.

Nick Ingram’s second-half lob settled the encounter by the coast as Walden were left to rue a number of missed chances.

The Bloods have struggled in the league as of late, winning just one of their last seven games but player-boss Wardley was enthused by his team’s improved showing.

Wardley told the Reporter: “I took a lot of positives out of the game.

“There were lots of improvements all-round and had we been able to take any of the many chances we created I reckon we would have hung on for at least a point.

“It was only an unfortunate goal that beat us so I can’t be too despondent.

“We’ve been hit and miss recently but we need to start turning good showings like Saturday into points to get us back up the league.”

Town now face another lengthy league away day on Saturday as they travel to mid-table Fakenham Town and they will hope a positive result can kickstart this campaign just like it did last.

He continued: “It’s not going to be an easy game up there.

“The last time we played there we conceded with almost the last kick of the game and it was hard to take.

“However, we picked ourselves up and went on a run of six wins in eight straight after and it saved us in the end last season so we want that again.”
