DESPITE a week of snow and ice, Turpin’s Ladies had a magnificent win over Huntingdon indoor bowls club in the Yetton Plate.

The 16-strong ladies team from Saffron Walden won 93-71 in the two home and two away games earning them a huge pat on the back from membership secretary Grahame Wilmott for a tremendous result. He added: “Well done ladies!”

The Club’s fun day, sponsored by H Peasgood & Son, was also a great success with Phyllis Cracknell, Valerie Lawrence, Terry Manning and Maurice Day winning the prizes donated by the main sponsor.

Mr Wilmott said: “The event was a variety of various bowls games and was followed by a buffet from our kitchen lady; Sharon. Thanks to all involved. We now hope to make this an annual event.”
