IT was another busy weekend for WaldenTri with members competing in road races and mountain biking as well as triathlon.

IT was another busy weekend for WaldenTri with members competing in road races and mountain biking as well as triathlon.

Bjorn Alsos put in an excellent performance to complete the Fritton Lake Standard Distance Triathlon in a time of 2h 31min. This gave him second place out of 15 contenders in his age category. A fantastic performance from the flying doctor.

At Reading, young Callum Riley was competing in the third Round of the British National Mountain Biking Series. Up against 45 of the top junior ranked riders in the country, Callum came a magnificent 12th and only a few seconds behind the Welsh National Champion.

The race was made up of five laps of a 6km woodland circuit made all the more challenging by heavy rain. This superb result will help to establish Callum’s ranking as one of the countries top junior mountain bikers.

On holiday in the Lake District Fiona Halls was taking things far from easy as she entered the ‘Grasmere Gallop’. This is a 10k race on an extremely tough and hilly course. Fiona was delight to finish as second lady in a time of 44min 45s.

Four members took part in Chilford 10k race at Linton. This was another race run on a very tough course and Paul Wiffen, Helen Nolan, Carole Anastasi and Margit Wendelberger-James took on the challenge. All finished in the top half of the field as follows : Carole – 36th (5th lady) 46:29, Paul - 45th - 47:57, Margit - 80th - 52:46, Helen - 84th - 56:03.
