Saffron Walden County High School student Charlie Stanton-Stock impressed at the UCI para-cycling international at Manchester Velodrome.

The 16-year-old had been working hard on his cycling skills all year and lined up for his first-ever track event against world and Paralympic champions at the iconic venue.

And Stanton-Stock set personal bests in the kilo and 3k pursuit, as well as taking the second leg in the team sprint and said: “I had an absolutely amazing weekend and learnt a huge amount from the experience.

“It’s the first international event I’ve taken part in and meeting the GB Para team as well as teams from all over the world was brilliant.

“I hope to race well again at Nationals at the end of January.”

Stanton-Stock has been helped by Stuart Carmichael at Flitch Bikes, disability sport charity Arctic One and Mark Fraser at Full Moo Cycling.
