TOM Blomqvist will start from pole position in two of this weekend’s German F3 Cup races at the Nurburgring.
Having dominated throughout practice, the EuroInternational racer continued his good run of form in qualifying – setting the two fastest laps and brushing aside the competition in style.
“The achievements secured on the track always are the result of the hard work executed in the run-up,” Blomqvist said afterwards. “My car proved to be really good as early as in the free practice session but in the qualifying session, it was perfect.”
The 18-year-old kept his eye on the ball despite a disrupted session, which saw the red flag brought out twice following incidents caused by Dominik Kocher.
He was left baffled by the problems he experienced – first stalling the engine and later spinning off and getting his Dallara F307 OPC Challenge stranded on a curb.
Blomqvist will now be looking to convert his strong qualifying performance into a dominant win when he takes to the track for race 1 tomorrow (Saturday). That will be followed by the reverse grid race 2, before the feature race on Sunday.
