Tom Blomqvist has been confirmed in the BMW squad to tackle the legendary Nurburgring 24 Hours.

The legendary race, being held on May 27/28, will see BMW bring a mixed line-up of DTM stars and well-known newcomers.

Saffron Walden’s Blomqvist is enthused at the chance to compete at the event again this year and is confident of the Munich outfit’s chances.

“This race is definitely one of the highlights of the year,” Blomqvist said.

“The carnival atmosphere is like nothing else I’ve experienced in motorsport and makes for a great weekend of racing.

“We have a strong presence this year, with several great teams running our BMW M6 GT3 and with the combination of top drivers we are all even more confident this time out.

“I’m really excited for the race and I think BMW have a great chance of getting the job done.”

Having never driven the infamous 15.2 mile-long track until last year, Blomqvist made several appearances at the Nurburgring in the VLN and Blancpain series prior to the 24-hour event.

The 24-hour race saw Blomqvist team up with Walkenhorst Motorsport and fellow BMW drivers Victor Bouveng, Christian Krognes and Michele di Martino.

A crazy weekend of weather last year saw snow, hail, rain and sunshine all in the space of 24 hours.

Blomqvist and the team displayed a valiant effort to claim a 12th-place finish.
