Kate Robinson has been selected to play hockey for England U18s Girls at the Sainsbury’s National School Games in Manchester.
The competition commences on September 3, and England will face teams from Scotland, Wales and Ulster.
The 17-year-old attended Friends’ School and then went on to study at Newport Free Grammar school and Joyce Franklin Academy.
She began her hockey at Saffron Walden Hockey Club in the junior ranks before progressing to the first team.
Kate also made it through the England’s talent development scheme, called the single system, which sees players progress from county to national age squad training.
She was selected to play for the East of England team, known as the Saxon Tigers, in November 2014 where she scored the winning goal in the England Hockey Futures Cup final to enable the Saxon U18 girls to win it for the first time in their history.
During training with the national age squad the ex-England captain, Glenn Kirkham, having just been made director of coaching at Chelmsford Hockey Club, asked Kate to join his side.
Chelmsford play in the National Hockey League and Kate has not looked back since joining them.
She played in every game in the 2014-15 season against some of the country’s top players.
