HOPES are high for Felsted riders as a second team qualified for the National Schools Show Jumping Finals.

Two teams from Felsted School have now secured a spot in the competition, to be held at Addington Manor, Buckinghamshire, taking place in October.

Felsted’s first team saw glory last month, when a combined senior and prep team came first in the 90cm class at the school’s inaugural NSEA event at Norton Heath.

A few weeks later, on May 28, the team from Felsted Prep entered the New Hall NSEA Show. Despite the wet weather, Ollie Stonham from Dunmow and Isabel Scott-Bowden from Felsted, both aged 12, and Felicity Coulson from Suffolk and Sam Wisbey from Saffron Walden, both aged 13, jumped fantastically to win the 70cm class, thus qualifying another team from Felsted for the national schools championships.

Further to this, two Felsted riders, Mollie Stonham and Josephine Bennett, both aged 17, have qualified as individual riders at 80cm and 90cm respectively, securing their place at the nationals.

There has also been success at the school’s grassroots levels with two teams placing second in the 50cm class and third in the 60cm class at the Felsted NSEA show.

These teams have qualified for the Grass Roots Championships to be held at the College of West Anglia in the autumn.
