SAFFRON Walden’s Tom Blomqvist again demonstrated his raw speed and tenacity by scoring another podium in round six of the ATS Formula 3 Cup in Germany.
At the Sachsenring, the uber-talented 17-year-old was on target for victory in round five before an electrical gremlin forced him to pit from the lead.
But in the second race he scorched off the line from fourth, challenged the leaders, before dropping back for a safe third-place finish.
After setting good laps in qualifying as well the teenager look son track to attack the championship leaders this season and currently lies in fourth position overall just 32 points off leader Richie Stanaway.
He said: “It’s been a tough start to the season, but I’m sure our luck will change. The key point is that I was quick and felt comfortable, so the potential for race wins is clearly there. It’s good to get back on the podium and we can build from here.”
Following a two-weekend break Blomqvist will travel to the Assen Circuit, Holland for the next round of the Cup on June 4/5.
