IN the second round of the CAGU Division One scratch league, Saffron Walden’s scratch team beat Gog Magog 4-2 to jump ahead of them in the league standings.

Leading the way for Walden was the inform pairing of Tom Duggan and Olly Tuck who earlier in the day blitzed around Walden in the midweek medal in 69 and 70 shots respectively. They overcame their Gog Magog pairing of De Wolfe and Howard by 5 holes up. Next up Walden pair Graham Goodman and Cameron Brown never got going against Stummers and Bowers losing 4down.

However, Walden secured the win with Richard Southall and Daniel van der Westhuizen winning against the experienced Gog’s pairing of Hughes and Williams by one hole. This victory was confirmed with Southall holing a 10ft par put on the 18th. A jubilant Walden Captain Richard Southall said: “It was a good win to put our season back on track after the narrow lose versus Ely last week”.
