Golf: Quartet shine to win Saffron Walden’s Morrow Trophy

Saffron Walden Golf Club saw one of their most prestigious trophies – the Morrow Trophy – won by Mike Price, Gordon Plumb, Paul Wisbey and Tom Price at the weekend.
The trophy was presented by Lady Morrow in memory of her husband Sir Ian, the grandson of Old Tom Morris, who is widely recognised as the founding father of golf and the winner of four Open Championship titles in the 19th century.
And it was fitting, given the trophy’s history, that the winners should have played such excellent golf, with two scores counting on each hole to finish with 89 points.
Price had four birdies and Plumb two as the quartet managed 46 points on the front nine and 43 on the back, which left them seven clear of runners-up Paula Munns, Sue Amiss, Angela Reed and Linda Kelsey, with Delia Roberts, Janina Jones, Michael Barker and Dan Coverdale third on countback.
