Michael Buchallet was WaldenTri’s top finisher at the Dambuster Standard Duathlon at Rutland Water on Saturday.

Despite the severe weather warnings from the Met Office, there was a very competitive field with more than 400 top athletes looking to get a spot at the 2016 World Championships taking place in Spain in June.

The challenging course opened with a 10 kilometre run around the lake before a 42km bike and, finally, a 5km run.

In cold and testing conditions, Great Britain athlete Buchallet was sixth in his 45-49 age category with Georgina Dunlop 11th in the 35-39 discipline and Phil Doel crossed the line 17th in the 45-49 category.
