Great Chesterford Bowls Club began the week with an excellent 6-1 victory over a strong Cottenham team in the Cambridge & District League.

The Meldreth & District team faced a tough encounter at Bassingbourn, losing 5.5-1.5 on a difficult green.

In the Business House League, the mixed pairs lost 4-2 at Girton, while the men’s pairs lost by the same margin at home to Post Office B.

In the same league, Paul Ellis and Martyn Linwood won through to the next round of the 2-4-2 pairs, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat on the final end at Coton.

More competition success for the club saw Anne Leader, Kay and Mike Flack defeat Barrington in the Lord Eltisley Cup.
