A 7-2 victory over Norwich City was Walden’s 12th consecutive win and secured them promotion back into the premier division with four games to spare.

A strong second half display was needed after a lack luster opening 35 minutes saw Walden go a goal behind before Claire Harrington equalised, deflecting in from a short corner.

City pressed Walden into errors and were first to the lose ball but were unable to create another clear chance.

Shortly before the break Deeds Hill scored a fine individual goal, carrying the ball at pace for 30yards before dispatching it into the top corner.

This, along with some stern words from their coach, meant Walden were more purposeful from the restart.

Stef Mayle continued her run of goal scoring form, slapping in to make it 3-1. City’s resistance weakened and, apart from scoring at a short corner, their attackers were kept at bay by solid defending lead by Tash Cox.

Walden, now passing more confidently on the bouncy pitch surface, targeted the City left and Nia Evans, Katherine Langridge and Harrington all scored from assists into the D from the right wing make the scoreline 6-2.

Nicky Bareham topped a hard working performance with the seventh goal in the final minutes.
