Saffron Rangers 4 Papworth 4
Saffron Rangers missed an opportunity to close the gap on league leaders Great Chesterford with a poor performance at home to Papworth.
Missed chances and poor defending played its part and Rangers remain four points adrift.
The scores were tied 1-1 at the break, Leke Ojumu grabbing the opener for Rangers. The sides traded blows in the second half, the host’s goals coming from Matt Anthony and two from Phil Dillon.
Dillon’s second had put Rangers 4-3 in front on 82 minutes, but Papworth snatched an equaliser just two minutes from the end.
Rangers face the return match away to Papworth on Saturday.
Saffron Crocus 2 Gamlingay United Reserves 1
Second half goals from top scorer Scott Cummings and substitute Michael Mmylees was enough to secure the points and move Crocus on to the same points tally as their opponents.
Gamlingay opened the scoring in the first half but the home side’s introduction of Mmylees for the second half proved to be a positive change. He had a hand in the Crocus equaliser, playing in Cummings who finished with apolmb from just inside the area.
Cummings and Mmylees linked up together again, and the subsitution scored with a curling lob over the head of the stranded keeper.
It was Crocus’s seventh successive home victory.
They face fellow promotion hopefuls Melbourn on Saturday.
Whittlesford 0 Littleport 1
Whittlesford missed a string of chances as they lost out to Littleport. James Reevs, Liam Webb and Matt Walkley were unfortunate in front of goal, all hitting the crossbar.
