A NEW all girls football club in Saffron Walden is going from strength to strength.

PSG FC, formed by parents clubs Plantation Youth and Spartak 78, currently has teams at under-9, under-11 and under-12, as well as a development squad who are playing friendlies this season and will be joining the respective leagues for the 2013/14 season.

There are 40 players on board although the club is keen to recruit more. The club trains at Herbert’s Farm on Saturday mornings from 9am.

PSG under-9’s showed their improvement this season with a 3-2 win over Sawtson.

PSG started well and took a 2-0 lead in the first half. This was followed by a strong Sawston fightback in the second half when they levelled the score 2-2.

The final 10 minutes were very tight with chances for both teams, but PSG scored the decider and held on to secure the win.

U9 coach Tim Piggott said: “At the same fixture earlier in the season Sawston were the runaway victors, so it was a very satisfying win and shows how much the U9’s team have improved in last few games. All of the girls played brilliantly and showed great determination throughout the match.”
