Saffron Walden’s George Peasgood won gold at the latest World Cup race on the paratriathlon calendar in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The event took place around Lake Geneva and included a 750m swim in the late, then a three-lap hilly 20k bike ride.

The final leg was a flat, technical 5k run and Peasgood led from gun to tape with a 9.57 swim, 33.40 bike and 18.32 run seeing him finish more than a minute ahead of French athlete Yannick Bourseaux.

Peasgood is now preparing for his last race at the ITU World Championships on Australia’s Gold Coast.

Elder brother Jack took part in the Aberfeldy middle distance triathlon in Scotland, which was a national championship race and included a 1900m swim in Loch Tay, a 90k bike ride over Schiehallion and Loch Rannoch and a 21k run in the grounds of Taymouth Castle.

And he finished in an excellent third place out of 400 athletes in a time of 4:32.11.
