Saffron Walden under-15s and Wymondham battle it out in the snow

Saffron Walden under-15s braved snow and a biting cold win to get the better of Wymondham at the weekend.

The pitch was barely visible, but both teams were desperate to play and proved well matched.

Conditions prevented both from their usual flowing play, with Wymondham having the better of the first half play and opening the scoring.

Walden hit back with some patient phases for Kaelen Clapham to burrow his way through and touch down.

The visitors scored again soon after to lead at half time, but Luke Rees scored two tries in quick succession after the restart to put Walden in front and Harry Mitchell went over in the corner to make it 20-10.

Wymondham were not finished, though, and fought back with a converted try to cut the gap to just three points and set up a tense final 10 minutes.

Walden held on to their lead for a memorable victory, though.
